John and Nancy really would like to have a new sports utility vehicle now but with the newborn baby, they can’t afford the monthly payments. After thinking about it, John says to Nancy, "I guess we’ll have to wait until we have the money to buy it." According to psychologist Sigmund Freud’s theory of personality, which level is illustrated by this example?

Answer: Ego

Step-by-step explanation:

Ego is a second development of our personality and it always brings us back to reality even when we are on our highs driven by our id which want everything for itself. It is responsible for our consciousness.

It act as a mediator between our unrealistic id and the real world.

We use to think logically and reasonably in order to make wise decisions. When the id want things that we can't have ego intervenes to bring us to reality to avoid negative outcomes. It considers social standards, rules and regulations in order to make proper decisions.

It also want to enjoy pleasurable desires like id but it wants to achieve these using proper ways an means to get there.
