Diego pours 6.8 ounces of water from a full bottle. He estimates that he poured out 20% of the water in the bottle. About how much water was in the full bottle? Explain or show your reasoning.

If 20% of the water (W) in the bottle = 6.8 ounces, then...
W x .20 = 6.8
So divide both sides of the equation by .20 to get W by itself, and you get...
W = 6.8/.20 = 34
The full bottle had 34 ounces of water in it.
