Each year, the students in seventh grade go to an environmental camp. This year, the total cost is $1,580 for 79 students. Which equation represents the cost, y, of attending the camp for x number of students?

y = 20x
y = 79x
y = 79x + 1580
y = 1580x + 79

The answer is y = 20x because you’re finding the unit price which is the price for ONE student. So when you do 1580/79, you get 20 which means 1 student is $20.
EXAMPLE: y = 20 (79 students), y = 1580

Answer:

y = 79x + 1580

Explanation:

SInce the whole trip is $1,580 that would be a flat fee and you wouldn't have to pay anything more than that for the trip and there is 79 students and they have to pay for the camp so it would 79x.
