Answer:

A piece of oak is longer than a piece of maple

Step-by-step explanation:

1- For the maple:

We know that the total length of the maple is 4.56 meters and that this length is equally divided into 4 pieces

Therefore:

Length of each maple piece =
(4.56)/(4)=1.14 meters

2- For the oak:

We know that the total length of the oak is 3.69 meters and that this length is equally divided into 3 pieces

Therefore:

Length of each oak piece =
(3.69)/(3)=1.23 meters

3- Comparing the length of the pieces:

We now calculated that:

length of maple piece is 1.14 meters

length of oak piece is 1.23 meters

We can compare the two values using the number in the tenth position

Therefore:

1.23 > 1.24

which means that one piece of oak is longer than one piece of maple

Hope this helps :)
