Socialization refers to the process by which individuals imbibe the core values of the society they live in. Family is an agent of socialization that operates on the primary level. From a young age, children learn from their parents and relatives on acceptable behavior in the society. At this age they tend to copy any attitude; good or bad that they observe from their parents. A child is likely to learn from his parents the right mode of dressing or greeting that is suitable to their environment.

Religion is also an agent of secondary socialization because they teach acceptable values of life and society outside the immediate environment of the child. Using their respective holy books, people are taught morals and values that would help them become responsible members of the society.
