The first aircraft has 112 more seats than the second aircraft. The third aircraft has 32 fewer seats than the second aircraft. If their total number of seats is 392, find

the number of seats for each aircraft.

Answer:

First aicraft is 216 seats

Second aircraft is 104 seats

Third aircraft is 72 seats

Explanation:

Let 2nd air. = x

Let 1st air. = x+112

Let 3rd air. = x-32

Total seats = 392

1st + 2nd + 3rd = 392

(×+112) + (x) + (x-32) = 392

x + 112 + x + x - 32 = 392

3x + 80 = 392

3x = 312

x = 312/3

= 104

1st aircraft = x+112

= 104 + 112

= 216 seats

2nd aircraft = 104 seats

3rd aircraft = x-32

= 104 - 32

= 72 seats
