15 and 29

n+2n-1=44

3n-1=44

3n=45

n=15

2x-1= 2(15)-1= 30-1= 29

Answer:

15 and 29

Explanation:

Let the larger number = x

then the smaller number= 2x-1 because first is one less than twice the second

if the total is 44 then add the 2 numbers together to form an equation

x+2x-1=44

3x-1=44

3x=45

x=15

2x-1= 2(15)-1= 30-1= 29
