The correctional system in the United States is not particularly efficient when compared to the correctional system of other similar countries. In the United States, the number of reoffenders is high. This means that going to a correctional facility does not always impact offenders in a significant and positive way.

I believe that in order for these facilities to be more efficient, we need to focus a lot more on rehabilitation. Moreover, sentences should be given with the purpose of reforming the criminal, and not only of avenging the victim. These changes would significantly improve the correctional system of the United States.
