Topographic maps are a kind of physical map. They show the shape of an area. They also show low and high areas of land. These maps are often called topo maps.
Topo maps use contour lines to show the heights of the land. If the lines are far apart, you're looking at flat land. But as the lines get closer together, the more the land rises.
Topo maps also use symbols and colors to stand for Earth's physical features. Blue areas are water while green areas stand for forests. A red line might stand for a road.
