The local library has a children's section with picture books and chapter books. the ratio is 2:3. if there are a total of 500 books in the children's section ,then how many chapter books are in the section.

So it will be:
(3)/(5) * 500 = 300

300 because if for every 2 picture books you have 3 chapter books than you will have 300 chapter books and 200 picture books

Explanation:

okay well if you have 500 and its 2:3 you will have to divide 500 by 5 because 2+3=5. And you will get 100, now you take two hundred and that's how many picture books you have because its a 2:3 ratio which leaves 300 books for chapter books.
