In January 2008, the temperature in parts of Minnesota fell from 41°F to -13°F over a 24 hour period. What was the average temperature change per hour.

So the temperature dropped from 41-0, so that is 41 degrees. Then it dropped 13 degrees below zero, so it dropped a total of 41 + 13 = 54 degrees total. You then have to divide that by 24 to get the average temp. change per hour, which gives you an average of - 2.25 degrees an hour, because 54/24 is 2.25, and it is negative because the temperature is dropping.
