Geomorphology is the study of landforms, their processes, form and sediments at the surface of the Earth (and sometimes on other planets) in the aspect that it is dimensional. Study includes looking at landscapes to work out how the earth surface processes, such as air, water and ice, can mould the landscape.

Geomorphology corresponds to a science whose object of study is the irregularities of the earth's surface, or simply, the various forms of the relief. Geomorphology uses the concept of innumerable sciences to carry out its studies. From the inventory and analysis of mineral resources and heritage resources to the study of natural risk management, through the assessment of environmental impacts, there are many applications in this area of knowledge, with interest for technicians, mayors and policy makers. For this reason, Geomorphology, a science of an eminently interdisciplinary and dimensional character, but strongly anchored in Physical Geography, is today one of the fundamental pillars of a current and useful Geography.

Your professional is called a geomorphologist. This science also has the task of studying all the phenomena that occur and that directly interfere in the formation of the relief. Its responsibility is to provide information for the causes of the occurrence of a certain type of relief, taking into account the agents (internal and external) that model the relief.
