Alex goes to the store with $20.00 to spend (and they’re spending all of it!) they are going to buy wasabi peas for $2.50 per pound and Vidalia onions for $0.80 each

Write an equation to model the different possible combinations of wasabi peas and onions you can buy with $20

How many pounds of peas can you afford if you buy 20 vidalia onions

20 = 2.50p + 0.80o

p = pound of wasabi peas

o = onions

20 = 2.50p + 0.80(20)

0.80 * 20 = 16

20 = 2.50p + 16

Subtract 16 from each side

4 = 2.50p

Divide 4 by 2.5

1.6 = p

She can buy 1.6 pounds of peas.
