Jena’s income is $1600 a month, and she plans to budget 1/3 of her income for rent and 1/8 of her income for groceries.

Her full income is $1600 a month so to find what 1/3 is we need to multiply that number by the decimal number of 1/3.

1/3 = 0.33

$1,600 x 0.33 = $480 for rent

Now let's do the same process for her groceries.

1/8 = 0.125

$1600 x 0.125 = $200 for groceries

Now let's find the fraction form!


(Rent + Groceries)/(Monthly Income) =
(480 + 200)/(1800) =
