it just means we can leave everything unchanged and just add (up) or subtract (down) a certain constant from the original function expression.

because we calculate everything as we did with the original function, and then simply add or subtract from every functional result value the translation constant.

g(x) = f(x) - 2 = (|4x + 3| + 2) - 2 = |4x + 3|
