One barrel held 60 liters 868 millimeters of sap. A second barrel held 20,089 millimeters more sap. Than the first. A third barrel held 40 liters 82 millimeters less sap than the second. If the sap from the three barrels was poured into a larger container, how much sap would there be on all.

Answer:

121.039

Explanation:

Here we have 2 alternatives: writing everything on millimeters or in liters. Here I will do it in liters. The first and third barrel are both in liters, so we need not to change them. Barrel 1 has 60.868 liters and barrel 3 40.082 liters (here I put the integer liters plus their millimeters).

We need to convert the second barrel to liters. How many liters are 20089 milliliters? Well, we know that each 1000 milliliters is 1 liter, so we just need to divide by 1000:

20089/1000= 20.089 liters in barrel 2

So, summing all three barrels:

60.868 + 40.082 + 20.089 = 121.039 liters

So, there are 121.039 liters of sap.
