The Candy Store held a raffle, and Matt won the grand prize. He won a gift card to the store, as well as a bag of giant lollipops. He gave 21 lollipops to his friends, and he kept the remaining 7 lollipops. Which equation can be solved for n to find the total number of lollipops in the bag?

21 (friends) + 7 (himself) = n
To solve this, n = 28.
There were 28 lollipops in the bag.

Answer:

28 lollipops.

Explanation:

Let's say that
n is the total number of lollipops in the bag, which Matt won.

So, if Matt gave 21 lollipops to his friends, and he kept with 7 lollipops, that means there were 28 lollipops in the bag.

If we represent this as an equation, would be:

n=F+M

Where
F is friend's lollipops, and
M is Matt's lollipops.

Replacing values we have:

n=21+7=28

Therefore, in the bag were 28 lollipops in total.
