Heathers weekly pay is an example of direct variation. The total pay is divided by the number of hours she works at an electronic store. Her pay is $174 for 24 hours of work. Find k in the direct variation equation and calculate find the amount of pay for 40 hours of work

k= $7.25 it would be $290 for 40 hours

Explanation:

1.You first have to identify Y and X ( x will always be time and Y will always be money) so 174 is your Y and 24 is your X

2. You plug the values into the equation K=Y/X to find K

3. divide 174 by 24 to get 7.25

4. 7.25 is now your unit rate or K, so multiply it by 40 to get $290 which is your answer
