Given that six less than three times a number is the same as five more than twice the number

Let’s assume the number is x.

Three times a number is 3
* x = 3x

So six less than three times a number = 3x - 6

Twice the number = 2x

Five more than twice the number = 2x + 5

As six less than three times a number = Five more than twice the number

3x – 6 = 2x + 5

3x -2x = 5 + 6

x = 11

Hence the required number is 11
