Other advocates of Social Darwinism battled that God appointed that a few people were to be well off and live easily on the diligent work of others. The Progressive Movement started mostly as a reaction to Social Darwinism.

Progressives accepted that God didn't condemn a few people to lives of neediness. Or maybe, neediness came about essentially from the eagerness of other individuals.
