In​ 2005, there were 16 comma 900 students at college​ A, with a projected enrollment increase of 1250 students per year. In the same​ year, there were 37 comma 150 students at college​ B, with a projected enrollment decline of 1000 students per year. According to these​ projections, when will the colleges have the same​ enrollment? What will be the enrollment in each college at that​ time?

Let x be time in year and y is total population

According to the information given for two college we have two equation

y = 16900 + 1250x ........... for college A

y = 37150 + 150x ....... for college B

As two college have same enrollement therefore we have

16900 + 1250X = 37150 + 150X

1250X - 150X = 37150 - 16900

X = 14.46

X = 14

So in 2005 + 14 = 2019 year the college have same enrollement

y = 16900 + 1250(14)

y = 34,400
