Dom has enough tins of paint to cover a total surface of 280m squared. He needs to paint a community hall with an area to be painted of 255m squared. Calculate the percentage of paint that should be left over. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.

Total surface area of paint available=Surface area to paint community hall+Remainder

where;

Total surface area of paint available =280 m²

Surface area to paint community hall=255 m²

Remainder=x

Replacing;

280=255+x

x=280-255

x=25 m²

Percentage of paint to be left over=(Remainder/Total)×100
