What is the most efficient first step to isolate the variable term on one side of this equation?

Answer:The simple set would be to just add them together,but the way math teaches you is to create like terms.So instead of -4x we get 4x.Then add the 4 and 5 without the x to get 9.Then add back the x and your negative. -9x
