Effects that enzymes can have on substrates:

Enzymes bound together with chemical reactants called substrates”. According to chemical reaction for every type of enzyme, there would be one or more substrate. Few reactions break down a "single-reactant substrate" into multiple products.

One larger molecule is formed by combining two substrates together. If the reaction has two reactants, it produces two products by combining. The enzyme’s “active site binds to the substrate”. A unique chemical substrate makes the enzyme specific to its substrate. Since enzymes are proteins, it consists of a specific “combination of amino acid residues”.
