Answer:

Alan require
(7)/(8) pound that is 0.875 pound more to make a fruit salad of 2 pound..

Solution:

Need to find out how much quantity of fruit is required by Alan to create a fruit salad of 2 pound.

Given that quantity of cherries with Alan =
(3)/(8) pound

And quantity of grapes with Alan =
(3)/(4) pound

Quantity of fruit currently with Alan =
((3)/(8) + (3)/(4)) =
(9)/(8) pound

Given that quantity of fruit required to make a fruit salad = 2 pound.

So quantity which Alan still require = Quantity require to make fruit salad - Quantity of fruit currently with Alan

= 2 – (
(9)/(8)) =
(7)/(8) pounds = 0.875 pounds

Hence Alan require 7/8 pound that is 0.875 pound more to make a fruit salad of 2 pound.
