A 800kg car pushes a 1900kg truck that has a dead battery. When the driver steps on the accelerator, the drive wheels of the car push against the ground with a force of 4900N . Rolling friction can be neglected.

Answer

given,

mass of car = 800 kg

mass of truck = 1900 kg

force acting = 4900 N

a) F = (m₁+ m₂ ) a

a = (F)/(m_1+m_2)

a = (4900)/(800+1900)

a = 1.815 m/s²

a) force exerted by the car on the truck

F = m_(truck)* a

F = 1900* 1.815

F = 3448.5 N

b) According to newtons third law

Force exerted by the truck on the car will be same.

Force of the truck on the car = F = 3448.5 N
