Two numbers have a sum of 9 when added together. The same two numbers have a product of 20 when multiplied together. Complete the table and write a system of equations to represent the two numbers.

Answer:

x+y=9

xy=20

Explanation:

If we call one number
x and the other
y, we have the equations:

x+y=9 (the sum of the numbers is 9)

xy=20 (the product of the numbers is 20)

This would be the system of equations corresponding to the situation described.

the solutions to the system are

x=4 and
y=5

because

4+5=9\\4*5=20

(these values can also be found by clearing a variable from the first equation and substituting in the second one)

The numbers are 5 and 4. I don’t know what you mean by “complete the table and write a system of equations to represent the two numbers”. But we can easily check that 5+4=9, and 5•4=20. let me know if i helped :)
