a parallel line is going to look identical to the previous equation except for the last number.

for example,

y = -3x + 10

and

y = -3x - 2

are both parallel lines

now, substitute y and x for the points of the coordinate given.

y = -3x - 1

-8 = -3*4 - 1

-8 = -12 - 1

this equation isn't true.

so change the last number to make it true

-8 = -12 + 4

-8 = -8

so, your new equation is

y = -3x + 4
