Please don't search on internet, Compare The Reaping in The Hunger Games and The Ceremony of Twelves in The Giver. How do both societies limit individual choice, and what is the impact of this on the community?

How are Jonas and Katniss in similar situations? Why? How are they different?

What is the role of the government or decision-makers in? How is that similar?

In the giver, they do not allow you to choose what job you want to be in or what career path you want to see. What colors you can see or what happens to you in the future. It's all controlled by the Heads of the town who will basically kill you if you disobey. They keep you on medications to make sure you stay in this type of a mode.

Similar to The Hunger games because you cannot choose what career you'll be in, you're assigned the district and whatever your district has to do for the government and the planet is what you have to do as well. Just like an example was in the first hunger games where Katniss met Rue, Rue talked about how a boy took some goggles or something to play with (I forgot what he took) and he was just a young boy, but the PeaceKeepers killed him anyways. Full control.

2.

They are in similar situations because both are being controlled of their decisions by their capital/government.

They are in different situations because Jonas is one who decides to run away from the fight and the government whereas Katniss runs towards the fight and the capital.

I don't understand this question

4.

The role of the communities in both stories is to follow the directions of the capital/government to keep "better peace". In reality, it's the leaders wanting complete control over the people.
