ANSWER:

Point slope form of the line is y + 2 = -7x - 28

SOLUTION:

Given that, slope of a line is -7 and that line passes through the point p(-4, -2).

We need to write the point – slope form of that line.

Point – slope form of a general line equation is
y-y_(1)=m\left(x-x_(1)\right) --- eqn 1

Where, m is the slope of the line

y_(1) is the y co-ordinate of a point through which the given line passes.

x_(1) is the x co-ordinate of a point through which the given line passes.

Now, from the given information , slope (m) = -7 , y co-ordinate (
y_(1))= -2, x co-ordinate (
x_(1))= -4

substituting in eqn 1, we get

y – (-2) = (-7)(x – (-4))

y + 2 = (-7)(x + 4)

y + 2 = -7x - 28

hence, the point slope form of the line is y + 2 = -7x - 28
