Answer:

COP=Refrigeration Cycle=4.67

COP=heat pump=5.67

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

To solve this problem we must consider the following

There are three related energy flows for these types of problems:

Qh = heat rejected,

Wcycle = the electrical power entering the compressor.

Qo = heat entering

if we apply the principle of conservation of energy we can find Qo

Qo+Wcycle=Qh

Qo=Qh-Wcycle

Qo=Qh-Wcycle

Qo=1700-300=1400BTU

We now remember that for a refrigerator the operational coefficient COP is the ratio between the heat entering the Qo system, and the power supplied.

COP=(Qo)/(Wcycle) =(1400)/(300) =4.67

We now remember that for a heat pump the operational coefficient COP is the ratio between the heat that rejected Qh, and the power supplied.

COP=(Qh)/(Wcycle) =(1700)/(300) =5.67
