Flooding has as its main motivation the drainage of cities and urban occupation. In addition to the common causes of man-made floods such as excess pollution, urbanization is a significant contributor to flooding. The unregulated use of geographical spaces for the construction of cities increases soil sealing, which prevents water from evaporating effectively and thus causing runoff. Another factor is the precarious water drainage system and the excess waste produced and disposed of in an irregular manner that causes trench clogging, pollution and increases the level of the rivers.
