Answer:

y = - 4x + 2

Explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Calculate m using the slope formula

m = (y₂ - y₁ ) / (x₂ - x₁ )

with (x₁, y₁ )= (1, - 2) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (2, - 6) ← 2 ordered pairs from the table

m =
(-6+2)/(2-1) =
(-4)/(1) = - 4, thus

y = - 4x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c use any ordered pair from the table

Using (1, - 2), then

- 2 = - 4 + c ⇒ c = - 2 + 4 = 2

y = - 4x + 2 ← equation in slope- intercept form
