3(2x - 3) = 4x + 1

multiply the bracket by 3

(3)(2x)=6x

(3)(-3)=-9

6x-9=4x+1

move +4x to the other side

sign changes from +4x to -4x

6x-4x-9=4x-4x+1

6x-4x=2x ( combine like terms)

2x-9=1

move -9 to the other side

2x-9+9=1+9

2x=1+9

2x=10/2

divide both sides by 2 to get x by itself

2x/2=10/2

cross out 2 and 2, divide by 2

then becomes 1*1*x=x

divide by 2 for 10/2

10/2=5

2/2=1

5*1=5

x=5

Answer:

x=5

Explanation:

You first have to distribute. So multiply the 3 with whats inside the parenthesis. So 3 times 2x is 6x. And 3 times -3 is -9. That means that so far you have 6x-9. Now on the other side you have 4x+1. So you move the 9 over to the other side by doing the opposite of it. Meaning +9. So you add 9 to 1 giving you 10. Now you have, 6x=4x+10. Just subtract 4x from 6x, which gives you 2x. Lastly, you divide the 10 by 2x because division is the opposite of multiplication
