Answer:

Get familiar with the place you're going to and try to gather as many informations as possible when it comes to weather and water temperature.

Step-by-step explanation:

1.One of the most important things is to make sure that each family member can swim. If the wind starts blowing or the someone starts to drown, anyone from the group can react fast and implement the ability they have to save child's or anyone's life.

2. If there are kids in the family, they should never be left unsupervised. The grown ups from the group should take shifts when kids are in the water in order to cover supervision at all times. Alcohol should be avoided as it is well-known that alcohol slows down reflexes and cognitive function. Having children in your sight at all times can reduce the risk of unfortunate events.

3. Be aware of the water temperature, as it can be really dangerous and it's not rare that it can be lethal. It is often much colder beneath the surface. In that case, it can be decided whether it's possible to swim in the water or not.

4. Make sure to enter the water with feet, as bottoms of lakes can be unpredictable and uneven. So you will know to beware of submerged objects.
