Answer:

Numbers are 27 , 39.

Explanation:

Given : The sum of two numbers is 66. two times the smaller number is 15 more then the larger number .

To find : what are the numbers.

Solution : We have given sum of two numbers is 66

Let the smaller number = x

Larger number = y.

According to question :

two times the smaller number is 15 more then the larger number .

Two times the smaller number =2x

15 more than the larger number y + 15.

2x = y + 15.

Now subtract 15 form both sides

y = 2x - 15.

Second condition :

Sum of two number is 66.

x + y =66

Now plug the y =2x -15.

x + 2x -15 = 66

3x -15 = 66.

On adding both sides by 15

3x = 66 + 15.

3x = 81

On dividing both sides by 3

x = 27.

Then , 27 + y = 66.

On subtracting both sides by 27.

y = 39.

Therefore, Numbers are 27 , 39.

Let x = big number

Let y = small number

x + y = 66...Equation A

2y = x + 15...Equation B

We have two equations in two unknowns.

x + x + 15 = 66

2x = 66 - 15

2x = 54

x = 54/2

x = 27

Plug x = 27 into EITHER equation above to find y.

I will use Equation A.

x + y = 66

27 + y = 66

y = 66 - 27

y = 39

The two numbers are 27 and 39.
