How do I expand 4(-2y + 3), and whats the answer when expanded?

1. -8y + 12

2. 2y + 7

3. -8y + 3

4. 2y + 12

Answer:

the answer is 1. -8y+12

Explanation:

4(-2y+3)

4 times -2y -8y

4 times +3 12

Put them together and you get -8y+12

As the 4 is on the outside of the bracket, you must multiply everything on the inside of the bracket by 4.

To expand the equation, multiply the number outside the parenthesis by each term inside the parentheses:

4(-2y + 3) =

4 * -2y + 4 *3 =

-8y + 12
