The total cost of a sandwich, a glass of milk, and an apple is $2.35. What was the price of each, if the sandwich cost twice as much as the milk and the apple cost 90 cents less than the sandwich?

The sandwich cost is 1.3$, the glass of milk is 0.65$ and the apple is 0.4$

Explanation:

let the costs be x(sandwich), y(glass of milk) and z(apple) respectively

x=2y

z+0.90=x=2y

then z=2y–0.90

then x+y+z=2.35$

(2y)+y+(2y–0.90)=2.35$

5y=2.35+0.90

5y=3.25$

y=0.65$

then x=2y=2×0.65=1.3$

then z=2y–0.90=1.3–0.90=0.4$
