Explanation:

Inequalites (< or >) are a time of relation between two number or equations. While the equality (=) indicates that one side is equal to the other, the inequalities express that one side is bigger or smaller than the other, to know how a value can be smaller or bigger to another number we can use a number line.

A number line works as follows, the more near is a number from the positive infinite it gets bigger, while if the number is closer to the negative infinitive it gets smaller. Zero is in the middle, becuase it has a null value, so it serves as a reference.

By drawing a number line we can determine how can this be done, see the graph.

It shows how far away is 7 feet from 4 1/2 feet. So 7 is bigger than 4 1/2. This can be written down as this.
