Check the picture below.

if M is the midpoint of LN, that means that LM = MN, however, we also know that a line coming from the vertex above is perpendicular to LN.

a line coming from the angle above can only be perpendicular to the base's middle point if the sides stemming from it are twins, namely JL = JN.
