What are the types of Figurative Language in this Poem, and an example of them?

Deep into that darkness peering,
Long I stood there, wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals
Ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken,
And the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken
Was the whispered word, "Lenore!"
This I whispered, and an echo
Murmured back the word, "Lenore!"
Merely this, and nothing more.

Answer:

Amazingly, Allen Poe's use of metaphor throughout The Raven conveys the melancholy mood of death's shadows. The use of personification to portray the narrator's loss of a dearly loved one of simile to convey guilt from haunted memories, and of metaphor to convey craziness from an omen of death, all add to the overall topic. In addition, the tone of the poem is conveyed in large part through Poe's use of dramatic word choice, sentence structure, and imagery.
