ou normally drive on the freeway be- tween San Diego and Los Angeles at an average speed of 105 km>h 165 mi>h2, and the trip takes 1 h and 50 min. On a Friday afternoon, however, heavy traffic slows you down and you drive the same distance at an average speed of only 70 km>h 143 mi>h2. How much longer does the trip take?

Answer:

The time difference is 55 minutes

Explanation:

If it takes 1 hour & 50 minutes (1.83 hours) to make the drive at 105 km/h, the total distance between San Diego & LA is 192.15 km.

At the speed of 70 km/h, it would take you 2.745 hours to complete the drive for that same distance.

This is equivalent to 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Finally, the difference between one and the other is 55 minutes.
