I think that students are not getting the help they need. There are several contributing factors to this. The first being, that parents are uninvolved in their childrens' academia. Second, teachers are often uninformed, underpaid and unqualified to be teaching a subject and answering questions. Thirdly, the monopoly around school supplies, especially in the textbook industry, leads to an inequality in the quality of education across the United States. If I could change this, i would encourage parents to get involved through various means. I would also push for legislation that provides better funding for public schools, and indirectly raises wages for teachers. I would also federally subsidize competition in the textbook industry to incentivize competition, leading to a better end customer experience in terms of cost and quality.
