James is making snowballs to build a fort during winter break. He can form 50 snowballs in an hour but 4 snowballs melt every 15 minutes. How long will it take James to accumulate 1020 snowballs?

The number of snowballs he can form in one hour = 50

but in every 15 minutes the number of snowballs melt = 4

There are 60 minutes in one hour =
(60)/(15)

= 4 time period of 15 minutes

In one hour number of melted snowballs = 4 Ă— 4 = 16

So the remaining snowball in one hour = 50 - 16 = 34 balls

James accumulates 34 balls in one hour.

To accumulate 1020 snowballs, it takes time =
(1020)/(34)

= 30 hours

It would take 30 hours to accumulate 1020 snowballs.
