Over a 10 year period, there were a total of 246 unprovoked shark bites in Florida. Assuming that shark bites occur at the same rate all year and ignoring leap year, what is the probability that there will be at least one unprovoked shark bite on a given day?

Answer: Our required probability is 0.067.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of days in a year = 365

Number of years = 10

So, Number of days in 10 years = 365 Ă— 10 = 3650

Number of unprovoked shark bites in Florida = 246

so, Probability that there will be at least one unprovoked shark bite on a given day is given by

(246)/(3650)\\\\=0.067

Hence, our required probability is 0.067.
