Let

x -----> the length side of the original square

y ----> the length side of the increased square

we have


(x)/(y) =(4)/(5)


y=(5)/(4)x


y=1.25x

the increase is calculated by subtracting x from y

so


y-x=1.25x-x=0.25x

Remember that


0.25=(25)/(100)=25\%

therefore

The sides are increased by a percentage of 25%
