The slope is 5/3.

The slope is the ratio needed to multiply our model airplane's length by to get the actual length of the airplane that is being modeled.

Explanation:

The graph is proportional since it goes through the origin. This means the slope can be found by just dividing a y by it's corresponding x.

That is
(10)/(6)=(5)/(3).

You could use the formula they have given for the slope:


(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-y_x_1)=(5-0)/(3-0)=(5)/(3).

I like to find the slope by lining up the points like this:

(3,5)

-(0,0)

----------(I then perform the subtraction vertically.)

Second difference goes on top of first difference.

The slope is 5/3.

See 3(5/3)=5 which is the y that corresponds to x=3.

See 6(5/3)=30/3=10 which is the y that corresponds to x=6.
