For her birthday, Des received two envelopes containing different amounts of money. The total amount of her money was 500. After spending 3/5 of the amount in the first envelope and 80 from the second envelope , the two envelopes now contain the same amount of money. How much was in each envelope before she spent some of the money?

Answer:

The first envelope contained $300 and the second envelope contained $200.

Explanation:

3/5 of $300 is $180, so you subtract that from $300 to get a sum of $120.

Then you subtract $80 from $200 to get a sum of $120.

Therefore:

The first envelope contained $300 and the second contained $200.

Have a good day! :)
