okay so we have this question of the week thing and this week our answer is 47 so i need a algebra problem that equals 47 can someone please help me ?

okay so this is kinda confusing but ill try my best to explain it.

x+y=47

x-y=25 which turns into x+x+y-y=47+25. which simplifies to 2x=72 divide 72 by 2 and you get 36. so x=36. then its 36+y=47 subtract 36 from 47 to get y and you get 11. so y=11. so you final answer is 36+11=47.
