Answer:

The Age of Discovery was the period of European expansion and imperialism beginning with Columbus. Britain, Spain, France, and Portugal all claimed various territories in the Americas, Africa, and Asia in order to obtain gold (riches), glory (national reputation), and guns (power). These European superpowers claimed and developed indigenous land in “discovered” countries, colonizing above previously-independent societies.

FOR EXAMPLE:
In Asia and the Americas, foreign European diseases, slavery, conflict, colonization, and exploitative trade practices destroyed and mistreated native peoples.
In Africa, Europeans purchased native Africans to use as slaves.
